Deputy Chief Adjudicator

Erin O'Brien - University of Queensland

Our DCA Erin has a distinguished debating history. As European Champion, she laid le smack down on le French. Most Australian debaters will recognise her from her recent battle as a Grand Finalist at the World Debating Championships. Erin is a PhD student at UQ, Macquarie's sentimental sister institute, and brings to our Adjudication team a wealth of knowledge and experience.

Erin brings skills to engage with students in both an authoritarian and congenial manner. She is dedicated to the development of the UQ Debating Society, and her studies at UQ see her tutoring in Political Science.

During her time at Durham University in the UK, she was repeatedly called upon to be Chief Adjudicator of inter-varsity and school debating competitions, breaking to the finals of numerous tournaments, most notably the Oxford IV.

In three-on-three, Erin has broken at Easters to the Quarter Finals and to the Semi Finals, and is looking to continue her success, as long as she can find a third team-mate who is in a league with herself and her plus one, Evan Goldman.
