Our organising committee comprises Macquarie University students and colleagues from the University of Queensland and the University of Sydney, all of whom have participated in national and international tournaments over the past seven years. Among them, we have debaters who have reached the Grand Final of the World Championships and who have been ranked in the top ten of speakers in Australia, New Zealand and Australasia.

Convenor: James O’Brien – MUDS Secretary 2007, Vice President 2008. James is an Arts and Law student with experience running our Macquarie Schools’ Cup and Society.

Conveor: Felicity Wilson – MUDS Life Member. Felicity has broken to Octo-Finals at Worlds as a speaker and a judge, and to Quarter-Finals at Easters. Felicity has a long institutional memory, and experience gained convening six of our Schools’ Cups.

Chief Adjudicator: Tamer Morris – MUDS Life Member. Worlds and Australs Octo-Finalist, Easters Quarter-Finalist and Easters Final Adjudicator, Tamer is one of the bright lights of Macquarie Debating.

Deputy Chief Adjudicator: Erin O’Brien – UQ Debater Extraordinaire, Worlds Finalist, Euro’s Champion and Easter’s Semi-Finalist. Erin has already adopted a strong focus on quality adjudication and how a Macquarie Easters can increase novice development.

Deputy Chief Adjudicator: Chris Croke – Sydney University’s latest Worlds Grand Finalist, and a former winner of Easters.

Treasurer: Thomas Hosking – Immediate Past President 2008. Worlds Octo-Finalist. As an Actuarial and Maths student, Tom is more than capable of doing the numbers, minimising outgoings and maximising fun in the Treasury.

Tournament Director: Matt Fellew – MUDS Life Member, Matt is a PhD student in Physics and Mathematics. Three years of experience with helping to run our Macquarie Schools’ Cup means that Matt is in a good position to Tournament Direct.

Assistant Tournament Director: Kostia Lubarsky  MUDS Executive 2007. Kostia is an Actuarial Studies & Applied Finance student with a very mathematical and analytical mind, placing him in a great position to assist the tournament director.

Socials: Marcus Dunn – MUDS Secretary 2008. Never to be outdone, Marcus has come on board to bring the life to the Easters party. Born and bred on the North side of the Harbour bridge, Marcus is an expert on the social life in Sydney’s North Shore.

Socials: Maddie Fraser – MUDS Executive 2008. Maddie has decided to inject her youthful energy into helping develop a series of fun social events which run to plan, on budget, and on the top shelf!

Catering: Susie Jerapetritis – MUDS Executive 2008. Susie is busy meeting distributors and sourcing from suppliers to keep the debating energy levels up.

Women’s Officer: Amy Van de Ruit – MUDS President 2008. Amy is a third year Arts and Law student whose approachable nature and genuine interest in the development of women in debating and in society place her in a highly qualified position to be Women’s Officer.
